A puddle too wide
A puddle lay right across the road, far too wide to hop. ‘Frog,’ said Half Rooster, ‘if you have ever been my friend, help me now!’ And the frog drank the whole puddle dry.

A gate tied shut
The gate was tied shut with a loop of string, far too high to reach. ‘Mouse,’ said Half Rooster, ‘if you have ever been my friend, help me now!’ Nibble, nibble, and the string fell open.

Home before dark
The evening wind came down cold off the mountain. ‘Fox,’ said Half Rooster, ‘if you have ever been my friend, help me now!’ The fox curled his big tail around them all, and they walked home warm. ‘Faleminderit,’ said Flori — thank you.
